The main inspiration for the Friends of Kottar Society was the late Miss. Philomen Govaere, a socially conscious, generous, loving woman but at the same time a  person of noble vision, strict person committed in action. She breathed her last here, at  the headquarters of the Society. She was lovingly called as “mammy” gave her all for the society, both while she was in her home in Belgium and when she was here in India.  She took the initiatives and they were followed up by her “sons” Father Monsignor V. Mariadhasan, Father J. Lucas and other members.
